Task 7 - Music Video Analysis - Mega task - Part 2

This music video is a performance based video it uses different elements to portray the image of older people being able to dance in a video and having a lot of energy. The song is quite modern which also creates an interesting contrast and defeats stereotypical young people dancing. The location is quite traditional and is what you would expect to see in a hotel. The mood of the video is mostly quite funny, abstract but unusual this is to do with the fact that someone of the older generation is doing this for example jumping on tables and doing weird dances.

This is a performance and narrative based music video. Justin Timberlake links the video with the song as it is called 'Mirrors' and the video as it is reflecting on someones life. The video goes through stages of time showing their life together as a couple. The video uses age stereotypically as we see the young couple having fun and enjoying life whereas the old couple in their room moving and dancing slowly, most of the time when the music video switches to the old couple there is a slow motion feel to the video and when it concentrates on the younger couple the video speeds up. When the old lady looks through the mirror it shows her past and in the background of the younger versions it shows the bedroom of the older couple. The red book features in many parts of the music video, this could symbolise the love the characters have for each other, as the book is still with the couple when they are old.

This music video is a performance based video which is shot in one whole take, the camera stays in the same position for the whole video concentrating on the singer, so you can see all her movements throughout the song. She moves through the streets, joined by various dancers who appear and move in and out of the frame when needed.

This music video is a narrative based video as the young child travels to different locations picking up people along the way. The video is about not listening to people or following instructions and being fed up of being told what to do, this is linked as the song is called 'La La La' which is the noise the child makes when he doesn't listen to the other people and this is a key part in the video.

In this task I learnt that different music videos have different purposes for example narrative or performance based videos, i have learnt that usually the video links with what the song is about, I will take this on board so i can take it into consideration when it comes to creating my own music video.
